Lake Kournas is the only freshwater lake in Crete and is considered one of the most beautiful in Greece. The lake is located in the mountains, surrounded by dense vegetation and green hills, creating a calm and serene landscape.
You can rent pedal boats or kayaks and paddle in the clear waters, or simply sit in one of the restaurants on the beach and enjoy the view. The lake is home to turtles, frogs, and a variety of waterfowl.
The water is particularly warm in the summer, making it perfect for swimming. The lake is up to 45 meters deep in its center.
